Domestic violence is such a hard thing to describe unless you have been apart of it or lived with it.

I have just now started talking to my kids about my childhood as I tried to preserve what they knew of my dad in the few short years he was alive when the girls were tiny. But I want them to know what not to live with.

My dad was a very very troubled man but he was also the life of the party, wanna be cowboy and LOVED country music and loved us kids. He was a truck driver that also used recreational drugs and was also an alcoholic. I wish I could say I knew why he ended up the way he did but we don’t and never will. Domestic violence isn’t just physical abuse, it’s mental abuse as well. Take a stand against domestic violence and walk away.
