@glenhansard performing ‘The Cross’ in @firstavenue Minneapolis on 5th August 2014. When in the Purple One’s hometown ye just gotta do a Prince number. A throwback to the days of the Blotto Brothers doing this same song at full flight with their dual takamines broken strings and stomping boots, a highlight of appearances in McDaids, The Bailey and Grafton Street.
Accompanying GH on the night are Joe Doyle on bass, Rob Bochnik on electric guitar, Graham Hopkins on drums and Justin Carroll on piano. (Curtis Fowlkes made an appearance that night too on the old trombone). A rarity to capture as Glen rarely if ever played this song after we lost Mic, he said he couldn’t do it right without him.
