An environmental activist coalition is calling for improved fishways near a hydroelectric dam in Brunswick, Maine after thousands of fish were found dead there on Sunday.
The group discovered alewife fish killed by the dam's turbines. Activists say fishways designed to prevent this need an upgrade.
The dam’s owner, Brookfield Renewable, is working on an upgrade as part of its federal relicensing.
