Now wait a minute 😂😂😂😂 This fictional Chinese parody takes one of the most overused promises in sanitary pad advertising, extreme absorbency and pushes it so far that the product becomes completely absurd. The creative brilliance is in the misdirection. Everything initially looks like a dramatic survival film, only for the story to suddenly turn into a ridiculous product demonstration. The pad doesn’t just absorb a little liquid it drains an entire lake, turning a familiar advertising claim into the punchline. It works because the parody understands the visual language of category advertising. The exaggerated demonstration, dramatic setup and impossible product performance are all familiar tropes making the absurdity instantly recognisable. And importantly, the video openly identifies itself as fictional entertainment, making the parody clear rather than presenting the spoof brand as a real commercial product. Because the best parody ads don’t invent a completely new advertising language they take a familiar one and push it to an impossible extreme. Oklahoma rain got the 996. It didn’t get us. Bought a trailer on the spot, hitched it to the media team’s Cayenne, and the Carrera rides the rest of the run like royalty. Same route, same stops, one extra axle. Slow car, fast trailer. West Coast or bust. We can’t be beat. See you tomorrow night in #Amarillo🤙 Shop the road merch at slowcarsfast.com Follow the run at p66rallye.com Join the club at bilimeux.com #Porsche #996 #Carrera #Rally
Sometimes, the hardest part of being unwell isn’t just what happens to your body. It’s what happens to the world around you. The conversations that fade. The friendships that become distant. The people who don’t know what to say, so they say nothing at all. I wanted to write about this, not to blame anyone, but because I believe we need to talk about it. I am privileged to have the space to process my emotions, reflect on my experience and put some of it into words. But I often think about people facing a life-changing diagnosis in circumstances far harsher than mine. People in oncology and haematology wards who may not even have a proper bed, let alone the comfort, privacy or infection precautions they need. If navigating the emotional weight of this journey is difficult for me, with the privileges and support I have, I cannot help but wonder how much harder it must be for them. I would never wish this journey on anyone. But having to experience it myself has taught me how much it matters to feel seen, remembered and included. Sometimes, it really is the smallest things. A message asking how I am. An unexpected phone call. An invitation for a cup of tea. A conversation about absolutely nothing. Keep making plans. Keep including them. And remember the people caring for them, too. Partners, parents, siblings and caregivers need their people, too. I started sharing my journey because I wanted the world to know that I am more than my diagnosis. Perhaps part of that journey is also using my voice to help others understand what illness can mean beyond the physical symptoms. If sharing my experience helps even one person feel less alone, or helps someone learn how to show up for a friend, then perhaps something meaningful can come from all of this. We are people before we become patients. We are people while we are patients. And we will always be more than our diagnosis. 🫂
