CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT:
Following up on the surprise non-renewal of the well-received “Spider-Noir” live-action show, Sony Television and Prime Video are reportedly preparing the next “Spider-Man”-connected streaming project. According to “Deadline”, a new series adapting the infamous (and much maligned) ‘90s “Clone Saga” storyline is close to being greenlit. Kaine played a major role in the later portion of the “Clone Saga”.
Kaine/“Kaine Parker” is the Jackal’s first temporary success to clone Peter Parker, but due to the flawed cloning process, he is left deformed and mentally unstable.
Web of Spider-Man Vol. 1 #119 (released October 4th, 1994).
First in-story appearance of Kaine (“Kaine Parker”).
Web of Spider-Man Vol. 1 #120 (released November 1st, 1994).
First cover appearance of Kaine.
Spider-Man Vol. 1 #60 (released May 16th, 1995).
Origin of Kaine (“Kaine Parker”).
*N.B.: Kaine reveals his face (a deformed version of Peter Parker’s face) in “Spider-Man Vol. 1 #60”.
Web of Spider-Man Vol. 1 #121 (released December 6th, 1994).
First battle between Kaine (“Kaine Parker”) and the Scarlet Spider (“Ben Reilly”).
*N.B.: The feud between Kaine Parker and Ben Reilly (the two main clones of Peter Parker/Spider-Man) was a defining aspect of both the “Clone Saga” and the first incarnation of Kaine’s character (Kaine despised Ben Reilly, and wanted to end his existence, throughout a large portion of the convoluted ‘90s storyline due to his mistaken belief that doing so would protect Peter Parker and the life that Peter had built with Mary Jane Watson-Parker).
