Treehugger A couple of days ago I had to self arrest by headbutting a tree. I've been on this trail and bunch of times but it seems I needed to relearn some hard lessons. While climbing down a steep slope I was holding on to the rope but like a total moron I was using just one arm. My other was carrying my overly massive tripod. One little misstep on some greasy mud and my already torn up shoulder lost it's tenuous grip on the rope and I went for an impromptu roll down the slope. With the bear spray can poking me in the face and my tripod discarded I was totally out of control. My abrupt stop  was delivered by a sturdy aspen where a small piece of my forehead skin still resides. I prefer to consider myself rather lucky. After a few minutes of coming to my senses I got back on the trail and captured some lovely shots which you'll see here. All was good. Here is a summary of the lessons I'd already learned years ago but needed to relearn. After that I'm going to ask for your advice: Wear Gloves when roping Use small camera bag specifically for climbing Bring smallest/lightest tripod Slide down on bum during tricky spots Purchase new shoulder The final tip is the one I need your help with. Clearly, I need some kind of emergency beacon device for when things go sideways. I've heard you can get those watched based beacons but are they any good? Do you have any advice on the best kind of gadget for when you're deep in the woods and canyons and might one day need emergency help? Even if it's a flat tire where there's no cell coverage or getting lost in fog. What's the best modern tool for tricky situations? Thanks for reading. Gavin - Fototripper
Gen Z has turned walking into a whole lifestyle, and they’ve even given it a name: walkmaxxing. #SteppaPartner For a lot of young people, fitness is less about looks and more about clearing their heads, getting off their phones and building habits they can actually stick to. It’s social too, with walk clubs becoming a new way to meet friends and even potential partners, and 66% of Gen Z fitness group members said in a 2024 survey that they’d made new friends through one. Apps like Steppa add another layer, letting users bet on themselves to hit daily step goals and earn cash for staying consistent. The idea is simple: put money into a shared pot, hit your steps every day, and split the winnings with everyone else who makes it to the end. And whether you win the pot or not, every step still counts toward your health. A 2025 study in The Lancet Public Health found that walking 7,000 steps a day was linked to a 47% lower risk of early mortality compared to 2,000 steps, with no gym membership or special equipment required. #fit #genz #walking
Zamagljivanje stvarnosti stvara plodno tlo za tiraniju jer uništava osnovu zajedničkog razumevanja i racionalnog rasuđivanja, i onda obični ljudi slepo prihvataju laži bez razmišljanja i sledeći naređenja autoriteta mogu dobrovoljno učestvovati u užasima tiranije. Manipulacija strahom, istorijskim traumama naroda gde Vučić stalno ponavlja kako će ON sačuvati mir i obezbediti isplatu plata i penzija. Stvaranje kulta ličnosti kao neprikosnovenog vođe bez kog smo izgubljeni i konstantno poistovećivanje države sa sobom. Upotreba represije i odmazde nad neposlušnima i obeshrabrivanje bilo kakvog istupanja protiv vlasti.
