In January we took our two dogs, Oscar and Molly for their annual checkup and found out that Oscar has an enlarged heart and was given 3 years to live.
In May, Molly lost 3 kgs overnight and we knew something was wrong with her. She was diagnosed with diabetes and given 3 years to live.
We love our fur babies and were devastated when we found out about Oscar's prognosis and the same with Molly.
Oscar turned 11 in June and is doing well and today it's Molly's 11th birthday. We pray that the vet has got it wrong and that they live many more happy years with us.
The sensor on Molly is tied to an app on my phone and stressed me out everytime it beeped to tell me her sugar levels were too high or too low. It took two sensors to regulate her insulin.
Now she's going well. Oscar is much better on his heart medication though he coughs alot upon waking in the mornings.
At first, I felt it wasn't fair. They're our family and meant to last forever but no one ever does that. I've learnt to cherish them more each day we have them in our lives and to savour each moment.
Happy birthday, Molly. She's a jack russell who acts like a puppy. She loves to bark alot and tell us what she wants and when she wants it. If she could she'd live on treats and sunbake all day.
They've become alot closer to us, especially me, since they were both diagnosed. Give your fur baby/ies a pat and kiss for me if you have one.
Molly has had chicken chews and 6 Halloween squeaky toys given to her for her birthday. We gave Oscar 6 toys today as well. When too much fun is never enough. We just all squeak together.😂

My heart goes out to you. My nearly 15-year-old shorkie had a lump removed yesterday. So far, she is doing well. I have been up most of the night with her, post-sedative agitation, but she’s eaten, drunk, pooed and peed! So, recovery is going well. Now, thankfully, she is zonked! Hope your two continue to do well.

So sorry for all these health challenges. Oh, we do want them to be forever well, to enjoy each moment. But they are blessed to have you see them through each day with so much love. Thank you for the care and love you give them. Prayers always ❤️
