For Antonio Hernandez from Iowa, a future in Hospitality and Tourism has been years in the making.

Growing up around a family-owned Mexican restaurant sparked an early interest in food service and entrepreneurship. Since then, Antonio has explored culinary arts, baking, hospitality, and business while developing a dream of one day owning a restaurant, bar and grill, bakery, or another food-service business.

FCCLA has helped strengthen the communication, leadership, problem-solving, and sales skills needed to make that dream possible. Conferences have also introduced Antonio to new ideas, trends, and opportunities within the industry.

The growth has extended far beyond career preparation. After once being the member sitting quietly in the corner of chapter meetings, Antonio stepped outside of his comfort zone, attended National Leadership Conferences, became more confident, and eventually rose to serve as Chapter President.
