✨ If you haven’t visited Santa Bárbara Castle, have you really been to Alicante? 🏰
One of my absolute favourite places in the city, and for good reason! ❤️
166 metres above sea level on Mount Benacantil, this historic fortress offers breathtaking panoramic views of Alicante, the Mediterranean Sea, and the iconic Postiguet Beach.
A few interesting facts:
🏰 Its history dates back to the Muslim era, around the 9th century.
👑 The castle got its name on 4 December 1248, the feast day of Saint Barbara.
🌊 It’s one of the best spots to admire Alicante from above, especially at sunset.
Good to know before you visit:
✨ Castle entrance is FREE!
🚶♀️ You can walk up through the charming Old Town (Casco Antiguo) and La Ereta Park — a beautiful route with scenic views along the way.
🛗 Prefer an easier way? Take the lift opposite Postiguet Beach.
🎟️ Lift ticket: €2.70 per person. Free for visitors over 65 and retired pensioners who qualify under the official rules.
🍷 Also they do wine tasting on Friday&Saturday 🥳
My advice? Take your time, explore the old fortress, and enjoy the views. It’s one of those places that reminds you why Alicante is so special. ☀️💙
