My husband is a senior leader, and one of the things he cares about most is making sure his younger troops are paying attention to their retirement and finances.

Most of them brush him off.

I couldn’t stop thinking about why. Then I remembered something from my last video: according to Fidelity’s 2025 Women & Money study, 81% of women say finances keep them up at night.

Now picture how it works in a lot of homes. One person handles the money, and the other trusts that it’s fine. So when advice comes from someone at work, it lands on the person who isn’t actually the one managing the money or not taking it as serious as you thought.

I’m a military spouse and a MBA, and my husband is great with money. I still sit down with him and share my ideas, because this is our retirement, and we’re a team. We want the freedom to do whatever we want, as soon as we can, and we’re on track to retire in our 50s.

If you’ve ever thought “he’s got it handled” or “I’ll figure it out later,” I’m not judging. I just want you to know you deserve to understand what’s happening with your financial future. It might feel scary at first, but you deserve a seat at that table.

A 10-minute money talk this week is a great place to start.

We are also big believers of being that someone in the phrase “someone told me to do this when I was younger, and i wish I listened to them”
