Touge is how my friends and I have gotten into cars as far as we have, extremely cheap to run as a broke teenager but it requires knife like lines to improve especially depending on your home road. Im lucky to be around a ton of friend with both track and without track experience. In my opinion it all comes down to seat time and perspective. Touge=track when it comes to fun and communities! I love cars my friends!

since I been tracking, I no longer drive at limits on public roads. the track has satiated the need. touge is great, but it’s 7/10, 8/10th pace

Canyons can be a great way to meet car enthusiasts. But in no way shape or form does it signal driving talent. It's a fun and awesome way to socialize and photograph. And that's it.

I love both dynamics. You start to see how each is set up over time and work those lines

Lol I say that same thing about people who only go to the track, bring them to the mountain and see how all that track experience translates, they are slow as fuck. Glad you have money for all these track days, I can’t even afford the gas here let alone trying to figure out a budget for out west. Gobless.

You said it all, 90% of touge drivers are beginners.A fast touge driver will not be "cooked" at the track. But a fast track driver, could be slower at the touge, danger factor is way higher

Ill take it further and say autoxers are better than "touge" only drivers. They focus on tight , narrow courses which is what most canyon roads are. More so if you also include not crossing the mustard.

Go rallycross. Loose surface driving will teach you how to be a better driver faster than a track. Knowing what your car does when its sliding and how to control it is the foundation of being faster. Once you learn that and apply it to a grip surface theres no stopping you.
