October might mean fall is here, but when the water looks this good, there’s no way I’m calling it quits on summer just yet. 🌊☀️ Just out here soaking up the sun, catching waves, and enjoying every last bit of that summer feeling. Who else is still in summer mode this fall? 😁
A new study led by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has found that older adults who nap frequently may face a significantly higher risk of developing dementia. By tracking nearly 1,000 Medicare beneficiaries aged 65 and older over a 10-year period, the study revealed that individuals who napped on most days or every day had a 48% higher risk of a dementia diagnosis compared to those who rarely or never napped. This increased risk remained present even after accounting for factors like age, existing health conditions, and overall nighttime sleep duration. The researchers also noted that unintentional napping—such as nodding off unexpectedly—was tied to a 39% higher risk, while short naps lasting 30 minutes or less were associated with a 40% higher risk. Crucially, the authors emphasize that these findings do not prove a direct cause-and-effect relationship, meaning that taking a nap does not inherently cause brain damage or cognitive decline. Instead, frequent or worsening daytime sleepiness is considered an early warning sign or biomarker. The underlying neurodegenerative changes associated with early-stage dementia can damage the brain regions responsible for regulating wakefulness, leading to increased fatigue and daytime dozing long before memory loss or other clinical symptoms officially manifest. Someone already imagined what rush hour would look like with Tesla’s new flying Roadster. 💀 AI creator iamneubert made a hilarious video showing a driver getting impatient in traffic and deciding to take a shortcut straight into the sky. The video comes just after Tesla demonstrated its next-generation Roadster performing aerial stunts using experimental thruster technology. While the traffic scene is entirely AI-generated, the real-world demonstration has already sparked plenty of ideas about what people would do with a car capable of leaving the ground. Would you use this to skip traffic? 😂 👉 Comment “TOOLKIT” to get my 700+ AI Toolkit for free 🎥 Credits: iamneubert / X #Tesla #Roadster #ElonMusk #FlyingCars #AIVideo
A woman’s body spends 280 days growing a baby, yet somehow she’s expected to recover in just 42 to 56 days. In her powerful poem Six to Eight Weeks, Amy Williams beautifully puts into words what so many mothers experience after childbirth, from the physical pain and emotional exhaustion to the pressure to “bounce back” before their bodies have had time to heal. Globally, about 1 in 10 women experience postpartum depression. We spend so much time preparing women for childbirth, but far less time preparing them for everything that comes after. No two births are the same, and no two recoveries will be either. Mothers deserve more information, more support and the time to heal without feeling like they’re falling behind or going through it alone.
The festival plaza becomes a stage for a live medley of music and singing. Egyptian and international pieces follow one another under the direction of Mohamed Nawara, the famed Egyptian composer conducting the performance.
