Mmm… I wonder if he ever sees me? 🌹

I’m a little nervous, but maybe I should say hello? We… could go for lunch, but… no, I shouldn’t. What if he says no? 🥀

You might not think that actors or actresses get butterflies in their tummies sometimes, given the confidence demanded of us when we perform, especially when you’re a dramatic actress like me. Yet that is what draws me to vintage horror, and especially classic cinema.

It’s the theatre of it, the romance. It is Joy by Jean Patou emanating from the porcelain skin of Vivien Leigh, a perfume I like to wear myself… although mine is a more modest version, sensibly budgeted for any office girl.

I love it when men dress smartly and elegantly, in suits… especially those with a vintage cut, and accompanied by cologne. I won’t tell you my favourite, because I would end up hovering beside you.

I do enjoy vintage fashion, elegant fashion houses and designer labels, but what I love most is hunting for special deals online. I adore discovering faded treasures, which I often bring back to life with my seamstress kit. Yes, I’m a dab hand with a sewing machine too.

But a gentleman certainly doesn’t need to wear the most expensive clothes to impress me. I am far more taken by something tasteful and refined, whether it was discovered as a bargain online or not.

But listen to me ramble on… I need to get back to work. Right now, I am rattling my manicured fingers across a keyboard, working on two scripts that may be heading into production this year. I love writing, but I can sometimes become a little lonely behind the keyboard.

In the world outside my window, I want to perform on set or on stage, or simply feel the gentle breeze of fading summer upon my cheek.

Arm in arm, I might walk with someone through the park, but I often walk alone.

There is magic there too, because amidst the great, living maelstrom of life, we’re never truly alone.

Do you believe there can be magic in solitude too?

Oh… and please share if you enjoy my work ❤️

Shall we dance? 🌹

I had a wonderful time attending my first Scottish ceilidh at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, where I was representing the @britishhorrorstudio as an actress, director and producer with the B-Team, our experimental arthouse horror filmmaking collective.

Few things make me purr more than arthouse horror, save perhaps caramel shortcake, vintage fashion, and creating new art inspired by classic cinema and the horror genre.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Paul Ridd @paulridd87 , Emma Boa @ejboa and the entire EIFF @edfilmfest team for their extraordinarily generous hospitality. I only hope that my spirited attempts at Scottish country dancing did this beautiful tradition some justice!

I enjoyed the company of several delightful dance partners that evening.

But if I were to turn to you, prosecco in hand, and ask with a winsome smile… Shall we dance?

Will you take me onto the floor? 🖤

We did it… 60,000 followers! 🥹❤️

I scarcely know quite what to say, except thank you.

It feels rather extraordinary to think that 60,000 of you have chosen to follow this little collection of films, photographs, costumes, travels, daydreams and assorted adventures of mine.

So, naturally, such an occasion demanded a celebration of tremendous sophistication… which, in my case, meant going out for lunch and ordering my favourite duck spring rolls. 🤍

For this little carousel, I’ve gathered together some of my favourite photographs from over the years, from my adventures as an actress in British independent film and Gothic cinema, to travels, costumes and quieter moments that simply make me smile whenever I see them.

I’m enormously grateful to everyone who has followed along, whether you’ve been here for years or have only just stumbled upon me. Every kind message, comment and little word of encouragement is appreciated more than you probably realise.

Thank you for being here, and for allowing me to share a little of my strange and wonderful world with you. ❤️

Do tell me which photograph in the carousel is your favourite. I’d love to know. 🌹

I weep a solitary tear for the shadow of the past… 🥀

As a classical actress, I read the words of vibrant plays from faded books. Dust rises from them as I liberate them from centuries-old bookcases, while the lettering upon their spines whispers ghostly echoes to me… Ibsen, Miller, Tennessee Williams… and, of course, Shakespeare.

I linger among those forgotten volumes, for while others may pass them by, the lifeblood and colour of those great imaginations from years gone by still shine brightly.

I mourn not for their passing, for they live still… through those actors and directors who nurture their memory from year to decade, and decade to century.

I too am a handmaiden of the arts. And while I can create and give birth to flights of imagination and wonder, I am also a custodian of those who came before me, tending to their legacy with the touch and care of a tender lover.

Within my great passion for classic cinema and horror, there are champions too who deserve to be preserved. And yet, within the realm of independent horror, there is a great absence of the kind of work I long to produce, especially here in the beautiful British Isles.

That circumstance gives me purpose. It gives me, as an artist, a role and a destiny to fulfil: to perform in and produce works of horror that might ring true to the masters of old, and that aim for so much more…

So that I, and all the creatives beside me, may empty our souls onto the screen with work that aspires towards the heavens.

Yes, we may fall short. But in reaching so far towards the sky, perhaps we will at least feel the kiss of the sun upon our fingertips.

Turning a tear of remembrance into one of joy… 🌹

Find me in the Gothic labyrinth of an ancient church, and hold me close…

I am moved by the beauty and history of the great church, or minster, as it is called, in the small town of Beverley. As I step across its stone floors, countless centuries of feeling, conflict, love and war swirl beneath me.

It survived destruction during the Reformation by a hair’s breadth. Each carved stone, each tile… every sculpted face looking back at me reveals a haunting truth that permeates my heart…

I am mortal, but art, through courage and perseverance, can stand the test of time. Even a humble horror actress, inspired by classic cinema, can touch the human spirit by performing with earnestness and striving for profundity, even when it brings tears.

In the spiritual peace I find within such ancient monuments, you might find me… and I might find you. Within them is love, and a love of art, history and culture.

They are my guiding angels when I write, direct and act for you. But without you there, my darling… I would shudder alone in the shadows.

Thank you for being there.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Olivier Martinez claims their son, Maceo, wants to speak directly to the judge about alleged abuse and which parent he wants to live with.

Olivier alleges Maceo photographed Halle after a September 26 incident because he felt his previous complaints weren’t taken seriously. He also disputes Halle’s claims that he has interfered with their son’s medical care.

Halle has denied abusing Maceo and described the incident as roughhousing. The allegations remain disputed.
