Eminem didn’t stop after one beat. He went through three of them 🤯🔥
The 2009 Tim Westwood session was recorded at BBC’s Maida Vale studios. Eminem was joined by Denaun Porter, then still known as Kon Artis, with The Alchemist also part of the session. Alchemist had been Eminem’s concert DJ since 2005.
In the section known as the “Microphone Freestyle,” Eminem raps over The Alchemist’s production for Slaughterhouse’s “Microphone.” The track appeared on the group’s self-titled debut album in 2009, two years before Slaughterhouse signed with Eminem’s Shady Records.
The full performance then moved to the instrumental from Busta Rhymes’ “Respect My Conglomerate,” before finishing over OutKast’s “Chonkyfire.” Different sections are often shared separately, but they all came from the same Westwood appearance.
Denaun joined Eminem near the end for the “Swag Juice” hook. Eminem explained that they had come up with it while travelling to the radio station.
The session arrived during Eminem’s return with “Relapse,” his first solo studio album since “Encore” in 2004. Instead of giving Westwood one short section, he kept going across multiple instrumentals alongside a collaborator he had known since the D12 era.
Is this Eminem’s best radio freestyle? 🤔⁉️
