The Jaffa Riots/Massacres The Hebron Massacre (1929) The Safed Massacre (1929) The Arab Revolt (1936–1939) The Tiberias Massacre (October 1938) The Jaffa Massacres: Around 47 Jews were killed and more than 140 were wounded; among the dead was the renowned Hebrew writer Yosef Haim Brenner... The Hebron Massacre (1929): Where 67 unarmed Jews were killed, wiping out an ancient community that had lived there for centuries... The Safed Massacre (1929): Arabs attacked the Jewish quarter in the Galilee city of Safed, beheading and killing 18 Jews, wounding dozens, and burning homes... The Arab Revolt (1936–1939): During these three years, armed Arab gangs and groups launched a guerrilla war and continuous assaults. The Tiberias Massacre (October 1938): Armed Arab gangs stormed the Jewish quarter in Tiberias and carried out a brutal massacre in which 19 Jews were killed—including 11 children and 3 women—and synagogues and homes were set on fire...
