Ashley Nwachukwu, better known by his stage name Knucks, is a prominent rapper and record producer from Kilburn, North West London, born on November 12, 1994, who has carved out a unique lane in the music industry with his smooth, jazz-infused hip-hop and compelling storytelling. During his early childhood, he showed a strong interest in the local grime scene, but at the age of twelve, his parents sent him to a strict boarding school in Nigeria to correct his behavioral issues, a pivotal life event that instilled a deep sense of discipline and focus in him. When he returned to London at fourteen, he threw himself into music production, learning to make his own beats while heavily drawing inspiration from iconic American artists like Nas, MF Doom, and A Tribe Called Quest, which helped him develop a refined, laid-back flow that contrasted with the high-energy music popular in his neighborhood. He started making waves in the underground rap scene with his 2014 project 'Killmatic,' an homage to Nas's classic work, and continued to consistently release critically acclaimed singles and EPs that showcased his growth as both a lyricist and a producer. His career reached new heights in 2022 with the release of his breakthrough project 'Alpha Place,' which not only achieved massive commercial success but also earned him the prestigious Album of the Year award at the MOBO Awards, officially cementing his legacy as one of the most talented and forward-thinking artists in modern rap today.
