Father Reportedly Chased Oregon School Shooter Into Building and Shot Him Dead: But 4 Innocent Lives Were Still Lost 🎥: @cbsmornings Blogged by: Grace L. A father is being credited in early reports with stopping a deadly school shooting in Oregon after reportedly following a teenage gunman into an elementary school and shooting him. However, the heroic intervention came after four innocent people, including three young children, lost their lives. The shooting unfolded Thursday, October 15, at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, where a 16-year-old gunman allegedly opened fire with a shotgun. The victims included children ages 5, 8, and 11, along with a teacher. Another 7-year-old student and a 54-year-old educator were critically injured. The 5-year-old has been identified as Rhoam Summer. While authorities have confirmed that an armed civilian killed the shooter, emergency dispatch recordings suggest the man was a father at the school. Police have not officially confirmed whether the person was a parent. Nevertheless, the New York Post has identified the man as a “student’s dad.” Channel 2 Now also identified the hero who took down the shooter as Kaylub Giamanco. According to emergency radio communications reported by the New York Post and Clarín, dispatchers initially alerted responding officers that the shooter had been stopped. “Looks like the shooter has been neutralized – possibly shot by a father at the school,” a dispatcher reportedly stated. Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz explained that the civilian witnessed the gunman entering the elementary school and decided to follow him inside. Rather than fleeing the area, the armed individual confronted the 16-year-old as officers raced toward the building. “Moments later, an officer reported that the suspect had been shot by a community member who had seen the suspect enter the school, and pursued him into the school and engaged him,” Krantz explained during a Thursday evening press conference. The civilian fatally shot the suspect inside the school. Officers subsequently entered, confirmed the shooter’s death and began searching the building for victims and additional threats.

Stephen A. Smith Breaks Bread With Trump After Their Ugly Public Feud: Black Women’s Unemployment and HBCU Funding Come Up at Dinner Blogged by: PoliGirl Stephen A. Smith went from challenging Donald Trump to a public debate to sitting across from him at the White House dinner table, marking an unexpected turn in their months-long feud. The ESPN commentator joined Trump, comedian Bill Maher, and musician Kid Rock for a private dinner on Thursday, October 15. The gathering brought together four outspoken personalities who have publicly disagreed on politics, government policies, and Trump’s leadership. By Friday, Trump was speaking favorably about the evening, despite previously attacking Smith’s intelligence and political qualifications. “The dinner last night with Kid Rock, Stephen A. and Bill Maher was great,” Trump told reporters. “I think they had a good time.” He added, “Stephen A. is great. Bill Maher, I’ll tell you what, he likes me a lot more than people understand, and I actually like him.” Kid Rock offered additional details during an appearance on Fox News, describing the gathering as “epic.” “Two Democrats, two Republicans sit down, break bread, have laughs, have tough conversations on a lot of the issues,” he explained, revealing that discussions covered “everything from socialism and communism to the war in Iran.” According to Kid Rock, the group agreed that “socialism and communism [have] no place to have a foothold in our government.” However, Smith reportedly used his opportunity with Trump to address issues directly affecting Black Americans, particularly unemployment among Black women and financial support for historically Black colleges and universities. Those concerns come as Black women face troubling employment conditions. According to September 2026 labor statistics, unemployment among Black women increased from 5.6% in August to 6.8% in September, significantly higher than the 3.6% unemployment rate among adult women overall. Smith also reportedly questioned whether Trump’s aggressive dismantling of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives has discouraged corporations from financially supporting HBCUs.
