On unPAUSED, Rachel Rubin, MD (@drrachelrubin) and I discuss urinary tract infections and why they deserve far more attention in midlife. UTIs become more common during midlife transition, and when they’re missed or recur, the consequences can be serious. In some cases, they can become life-threatening. Prevention is key. One of the most effective, evidence-based tools we have is low-dose, local menopause hormone therapy. Research shows it can reduce recurrent UTIs by more than 50%. This therapy works by improving tissue health and blood flow in the urinary system, helping restore the body’s natural defenses. It is localized, low-dose, and does not circulate throughout the body. Too many women are never informed about this option. Understanding how midlife changes affect the urinary system allows for earlier intervention and better outcomes. ✨Want to hear the full conversation? My @dancingwiththestars dedication night dance is to James Avery. You know him as Phillip Banks or Uncle Phil or maybe Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Everything I believe about being an artist, was learned at his feet. I loved him very much and I know many of you did too. I shared my thoughts and feelings with my sweet and absolutely brilliant partner @janravnik and he’s choreographed a spectacular Viennese Waltz. James loved Jazz music and Nancy Wilson was one of his favorites. We’ll be dancing to her song, “You don’t know how glad I am”. The lyrics are perfect for the way I feel. I am elated that I’ve made it far enough in this competition to be able to honor him. James Avery was one of my greatest teachers. I hope you feel all the love we’re putting into this dance. I’ve felt your love week after week, and it’s keeping me strong during this process. I know if James was still here, he would have been in that audience cheering me on, encouraging me, telling me all the good things he sees in me. I love ya’ll. Wow! What an experience this is. My heart is so very full.🫶🏾
