The opening night of Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society’s season: Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring 🎵🎶🎼
@lincolncenter @chambermusicsociety Bernard Herrmann‘s iconic screeching violins were crazy in person 🎻 Everybody screamed. He basically invented the modern day movie’s “jump scare” sounds. LOVED it especially since we’re in the season 👻
I also learned about Amy Beach. She’s America’s first successful female composer. She has both deeply sorrowful and angry sounds as well as some of the moist girlish and fairy tale like sounds. It just resonated with me so much as a woman and girl at heart.
And of course, I came for Copland. Learned about his as the pioneer of American orchestra music back in music 101 in college and I’ve loved special Appalachian spring so much. It one of the most pleasant sounds I’ve ever heard. It sounds like a gentle breeze on a plain with bunnies hopping 🐰
