Simplistic view of kicker recruiting in the age of transfer portal. This does not even account for back up kickers at top divisions moving down to the level where they can play immediately.
Being good kicker, or even better, being a great kicker, insulates you from uncertainty and some of the stress that comes with constant changes. Can you imagine being on a team and saying with confidence, “I don’t give a sh*t who they bring in. Good luck beating me.”

So many other variables also — what’s the team situation? Coaching situation? Competition of course. I would say, from watching someone do this for 5 years, that being versatile is a huge benefit. Can you do all 3? Plus hold? Even if it doesn’t get you directly on the field it can REALLY help you get on the bus, as they say.
