Writing this song made me reflect on 15+ years of being open and honest about my life, having my identity, accomplishments, and art questioned or discredited. This isn’t about pretending the criticism didn’t hurt. It’s about reclaiming my narrative and personal power. Every time I’ve been counted out, I’ve authentically reinvented myself on my own terms, even when I had no idea what I was doing. Each time, I’ve grown stronger and more confident. That’s how I’ve survived all these years doing what I do. I had no blueprint…so I made my own.
