Thank god they chose not to euthanize the tiger 🙏🏼 “But they said he had mental health issues.” Yeah, men really will do anything except go to therapy. Putting yourself in harms way is one thing—but at the expense of animals and other people is a choice.

With that said—I think it being so easy for humans to get into the enclosure is something I’d like to know more about. Siberian tigers are endangered and although there has been some improvement in their numbers—only roughly 500–750 remain in the wild. There were only a few dozen in the mid-20th century. Their status was previously Critically Endangered but was later upgraded to Endangered. It can easily drop again if they have to be killed for stupid reasons like this.

Main threats:

✨Poaching (for skins, bones, and traditional medicine)

✨Habitat loss and fragmentation from logging and human development

✨Decline in prey animals (deer, wild boar)

✨Occasional vehicle collisions and human-tiger conflict
