FT: Roma 3-4 Real Madrid x Man City 2-4 PSG
Roma 3-4 Real Madrid and somehow Madrid have done it again. ⚪️🔥 This game had absolutely everything — seven goals, momentum swinging constantly, Roma going 3-1 up, Madrid looking dead and buried, and then three late goals completely flipping the match. Roma were brilliant for long spells and Donyell Malen’s brace looked like it might have secured one of their biggest European wins in years, but Real Madrid simply refused to accept the defeat.
Mbappé had already scored in the first half to keep Madrid in the game, but at 3-1 down late on, the situation looked desperate. Then came the comeback. Carlos Espí pulled one back, Endrick made it 3-3 just minutes later, and Rüdiger completed the turnaround right at the end. From two goals behind to winning 4-3 in the space of a few minutes — it was pure Champions League chaos and exactly the kind of night Real Madrid somehow seem to thrive in.
That is probably the most ridiculous thing about Madrid in this competition. You can dominate them, you can put them under pressure and you can even build what looks like a comfortable lead, but until the final whistle there is always this feeling that the game is not finished. Their belief in these moments is almost part of the club’s identity now. One goal suddenly becomes two, the momentum changes completely and before the opposition can recover, Madrid have somehow turned defeat into victory.
Roma will be absolutely devastated because they had the game in their hands. Going 3-1 up at home against Real Madrid should put you in an incredible position, but once they started conceding late, everything unravelled incredibly quickly. For Madrid, though, this is the kind of win that can transform confidence in a Champions League campaign. Mbappé scores, Endrick delivers a huge moment from the bench, Rüdiger becomes the unlikely late hero and Madrid leave Rome with a 4-3 win that looked almost impossible minutes earlier. Another ridiculous European comeback added to the collection.
