Jason Statham is back. The Beekeeper 2 hits theaters January 15, and the trailer drops tomorrow. The sequel to the 2024 action hit sees Statham return as Adam Clay, the retired operative with a beekeeper’s calm and a killer’s precision. Mark your calendars.

Most of my followers are under 30, so this message is especially for you!

Back in the 1980s, before I had kids, this Coors ad appeared in *Rolling Stone* magazine. Its message about volunteering is just as meaningful today.

You have so much energy, passion, and talent to give. Find something you believe in, volunteer your time, and make a difference in the world!

I still volunteer today with the Nantucket Shellfish Association and Nantucket Thrift Shop, and I can tell you that giving back is one of life’s greatest rewards.

Read the ad. Maybe it will inspire you to find your own way to give back.

Living my life like it’s a movie. The world is my buffet ✨

Lesson 6 💌: You don’t have to change who you are or how you look to be taken seriously.

Looking back, I don’t think it was the complaint itself that affected me most. It was what I took away from it.

That perhaps if I dressed a little differently, wore less makeup, made less effort with my appearance, blended in a little more… people might take me more seriously.

And I think we have all been there…

Changed something about ourselves, not because we wanted to, but because we worried about how we might be perceived.

Of course, there are professional standards, dress codes and safety considerations. I’ve spent my career in medicine, and I understand their importance.

But there’s a difference between dressing appropriately for your job and feeling you have to dull your personality to be respected in it.

At the time, I was a young medical student. I didn’t question it. I just put on scrubs and got on with my day.

And perhaps that’s the bit I’d do differently now. Not necessarily the clothes, but the assumption that someone else’s judgement of my appearance must mean there was something wrong with it.

As I raise my daughters, I want them to understand that feedback is important, but not every opinion requires them to change.

You can be feminine, enjoy fashion, love makeup, wear pink shoes AND be intelligent, capable and professional.

One doesn’t cancel out the other.

And I wish my younger self had understood that a little sooner.

Have you ever changed how you look or dress because you worried you wouldn’t be taken seriously?
