I’m 55. My skin is loose in places. My forehead wrinkles. My eyes crinkle. My belly looks different when I stop holding it in. I’m also strong, active, and comfortable showing you all of it. ❤️ I choose to care for my body and mind. That doesn’t mean my skin will stop aging, or that it needs to. The wrinkles don’t bother me. What I question is the story we’ve been told: that as women age, we lose our beauty, our desirability, and somehow our worth, if we don’t continue looking young. Men become “silver foxes.” Their bellies can be considered sexy. Meanwhile, women are expected to keep looking like time never touched us. I’m choosing a different story. I can love my body as it is and keep caring for it, so that I’m healthy. Acceptance and effort can exist together. So can muscles and loose skin. For me, the beauty of aging is in getting to keep living, growing, and becoming more myself. Aging is a privilege. I want to experience it without constantly inspecting myself for something to fix. Your life. Your body. Your choices. Including choices different from mine. But let them come from what feels right for YOU. You get to question what you’ve been taught to dislike about yourself. We don’t control every change aging brings. We do have a say in the meaning we give those changes, and how we treat ourselves along the way. What’s one belief about aging you’re ready to let go of? #AgingOnMyTerms #ProAging #ThisIs55 #BodyAcceptance #AgingIsAPrivilege
Honestly I don’t want a new year … I want a gently used one .. maybe 2018 ? Or even 1995 ??
Athens is a city where ancient history meets modern chaos, where beautiful architecture sits alongside gritty streets. It is an unpredictable, versatile place. Every corner offers something different, from striking geometry and deep contrasts to fleeting moments of everyday life. It’s a city full of character, texture and imperfections, and that is what makes it so photogenic. #athens #streetphotographyinternational #monochrome #gntm
