It’s so clear that various departments at WOTC struggle with both communicate with each other and create under the brutal time constraints for churning out new product 🫤 stuff like Tibalt becoming a Phyrexian just gets left on the cutting room floor

Tibalt is unfortunately one of those low level throwaway villains in mtg. I love Tibalt, and I wish he would get some more villainly love, but I guess someone has to be at the bottom of the barrel. Speaking of villainous planeswalkers that get forgotten, I wish they would make use of Davriel. He showed up in like 2 sets, 0 stories, no real lore other than he's a shadow mage. I would love to see lesser used planeswalkers take center stage more often.

Thing about all those comic appearances is that they aren’t canon. In actual Magic story Tibalt has done 4 things: Sparked on Innistrad, was present during the War of the Spark, was a major player in the Kaldheim story, and was killed by Tyvar. His first card is widely considered the worst planeswalkers ever printed, even considering the starter deck planeswalkers that are all garbage. Literally the only things he had going for him were “Absolutely has that shit on” and “Fake Loki.”
