Some of the best travel memories happen when you stop watching and start participating.
In this clip from The Art of Adventure, Robert Bateman and Bristol Foster experience Holi in India joining the festival, throwing color, and becoming part of the celebration around them.
The footage is joyful, spontaneous, and completely real.
But the moment also captures something larger about their 1957 journey: curiosity, openness, and the willingness to experience the world rather than simply pass through it.
That same spirit shaped the adventure - and stayed with both men for the rest of their lives.
The Art of Adventure is continuing on the big screen. California is next:
Santa Monica: October 23-29
Sebastopol: October 26
Berkeley: October 27
San Rafael: October 29
