دونالد ترامپ، رییس‌جمهوری آمریکا، در سخنرانی در آلاسکا جمهوری اسلامی را «از بسیاری جهات کشوری بد» و «بزرگ‌ترین حامی دولتی تروریسم در جهان» خواند و گفت تهران دو هفته با دستیابی به سلاح هسته‌ای فاصله داشت.

ترامپ گفت: «من تهدید هسته‌ای ایران را از بین بردم؛ کاری که روسای‌جمهوری دیگر باید انجام می‌دادند.» او با انتقاد از سیاست باراک اوباما، رییس‌جمهوری پیشین آمریکا، گفت میلیاردها دلار در دوره او به ایران پرداخت شد و جمهوری اسلامی از این منابع برای توسعه موشک‌ها و برنامه هسته‌ای استفاده کرد.

ترامپ جمهوری اسلامی را «قلدر خاورمیانه» خواند و افزود: «آنها نیروی دریایی، نیروی هوایی و پدافند هوایی ندارند.» او همچنین گفت جمهوری اسلامی با تورم و کمبود منابع مالی روبه‌روست و «این وضعیت خیلی زود پایان خواهد یافت.»

رییس‌جمهوری آمریکا درباره قیمت انرژی نیز گفت انتظار داشت قیمت نفت بیشتر افزایش یابد، اما انتقال نفت از تنگه هرمز اکنون از پیش از آغاز جنگ بیشتر است. او افزود: «ما کنترل تنگه را در دست داریم.»
