She still comes to me in dreams, in songs, in her own handwriting on old birthday cards, and in every beautiful thing I find that I just know she would have loved. If you’re missing someone too, I’m right there with you. 🧡 Full essay on bigthriftenergy.com today

People often ask us when we find time to practice, since we are touring so much of the year. We call this our Qawwali Moon, a kind of Qawwali honeymoon, when the Fanna-Fi-Allah ensemble comes together at the Sama School of Music in Bali between tours to learn new Qawwalis and practice as one.

This is a short clip of that, the team sitting together with Yadan Vichde, in the traditional Qawwali style passed down by our ustads in the family of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Behind the performances are long hours and heavy training, the deep work that keeps this tradition alive.

Our next concerts will be in India, in Delhi, on October 20 and 21. We will see you there, inshallah.

Age is just a number…

Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for orchestrating the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur.
_____________________________________________
A Nevada judge sentenced Davis, 63, to 20 years to life for first-degree murder and an additional 20 years to life for a deadly-weapon enhancement. His attorney, Michael Sanft, said the defense plans to appeal.
_____________________________________________
Prosecutors urged the judge to impose the maximum sentence, citing Davis’ criminal history. “He deserves the maximum possible sentence because he’s earned it through his actions, his behavior, and who he is as he stands here today,” the prosecutor said.
