The BTMR Project presents the inaugural BTMR Festival, November 6 - 8 at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute - a weekend of theatre, music, film, visual art, and Black storytelling rooted in history, identity, culture, and lived experience.

Born from Black To My Roots: African American Tales from the Head and the Heart, the festival brings together artists and work that have grown from the stage into a larger creative moment. The weekend features BLACK D*CK MATTERS, BLACK TO MY ROOTS, HAIR’S BREATH: Music Inspired by BTMR, staged readings, film previews, the BTMR Photo Exhibition, and the Kathya Alexander Honors.

After 25 years of Black To My Roots, a Seattle anniversary production, and a 2025 appearance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - where the work received a Black Excellence Award - the BTMR family is coming home to celebrate what’s next.
