just going to look right over here... 👀
Moms love to remind their kids that a mother sacrifices so much for them, starting from pregnancy, or in labour. I don’t connect with that. I wanted my daughter. I chose to get pregnant, I chose to bring that love and that joy into my life, and yes, my pregnancy and especially my labour came with real hardship. Learning how to be a new mom is tough, but that’s a hardship I signed up for and that isn’t a debt my daughter owes me. She didn’t ask to be here. I asked for her. So I will never tell her I sacrificed for her, because the word turns my choice into her burden. What I’ll tell her instead is that she was wanted, and that everything hard about raising her was part of something I’d choose again.
