Ravan, Kumbhakaran, Meghnad and a 30-foot cockroach.

That is the planned lineup at a Pitampura Ramlila this Dussehra. The Shree Keshav Ram Leela says it represents filth and dirt, and that burning it is meant to promote cleanliness under the Swachh Bharat and Swachh Delhi campaigns.

The choice comes against a political backdrop: the Cockroach Janata Party is protesting in Delhi, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in electoral roll revision.

Committee president and BJP MLA Ashok Goel has denied a political motive. He told PTI that the cockroach would also feature among the demons in Ravan’s army.

The shared name and timing give the story its political context, but they do not by themselves prove that the effigy targets CJP. Organisers reject that reading.

What do you make of the organisers’ explanation?

AD Only @mcobeauty can tell me to “Get a Grip”!

I’ve been loving the newest addition to the MCoBeauty Grip Family: the Grip Hydrating Skin Tint. I love a dewy finish and this does the job without being sticky! It also has skin-loving ingredients that leaves my face feeling hydrated and fresh all day long.
Use it solo or pair it with the OG Grip Primer - which I find best for me for longer wear!
