I’m not raising an obedient little girl. I’m raising a human being who can THINK FOR HERSELF. 🔥

Respect is earned. Love isn’t conditional. And being a “good kid” shouldn’t mean learning to ignore your own instincts just to make adults comfortable.

I’m not interested in raising a daughter who’s easy to control. I’m interested in raising one who’s impossible to manipulate.

And if that makes her difficult… GOOD. 😂

#TyreseGibson’s daughter is all grown up! ❤️

The R&B singer and actor shared a sweet moment with his oldest daughter, Shayla Somer Gibson, admitting he’s feeling both scared and nervous as she prepares for her next big chapter: college! And, of course, Tyrese couldn’t resist bringing back his now-viral “My Shayla” line.

ICYMI: The phrase dates back to November 2017, when Tyrese broke down on camera amid a heated custody battle with his ex-wife, Norma Gibson, over their then-10-year-old daughter. At the time, #Tyrese claimed he hadn’t seen Shayla in two months and tearfully pleaded to see her again, crying out, “Oh my God, my Shayla!” The emotional clip resurfaced on #TikTok in late 2024, becoming a viral sound used in countless videos.
