Tesla’s late-night demonstration in Waco, Texas, certainly gave some corners of the internet what it wants. And the gushing praise and wide-eyed reactions on X, a platform already predisposed to absolving Musk of all his sins, were hard to avoid. Taken purely as a stunt, the demo was jaw-dropping. Equipping an electric supercar with 600 liters of compressed air, 10 directional cold-gas thruster nozzles, and a 2G suction-fan system directly inspired by SpaceX is undeniably rad. Seeing a 0-to-60 mph launch in under a second pushes the absolute outer limits of physics — even if it could lead to a detached retina or two. Yet, calling this a “car reveal” or even viewing the flying Roadster as a real product, in the sense that it can be purchased by an unaffiliated third-party for private ownership, stretches the definition beyond recognition. AI cameras have flagged nearly 20,000 potential driving offences across major cities in the West Midlands. Some drivers were caught using their phones with both hands. A passenger was spotted with a child on their lap. Now, the Mayor wants to see the technology rolled out across the region, but how accurate is it? More than 8,000 images were checked by operators during the trial. #ai #driving #drivers

Drinking water can be a meaningful source of microplastics and associated chemicals, including BPA and PFAS, and reverse osmosis is one of the most effective ways to reduce them. I recently installed a reverse osmosis filter on my kitchen faucet. I wanted filtered water not only for drinking and cooking, but also for washing produce. Soil and water contamination can expose fruits and vegetables to persistent chemicals, so this gives me another practical way to reduce daily exposure. People often ask whether reverse-osmosis water needs to be remineralized. It does not. You can obtain those minerals through your diet. But remineralization may improve the taste if purified water seems flat or unfamiliar. The most important thing is to look for an NSF certification that covers the contaminants you care about and review the system’s performance data. That should tell you what the filter has actually been tested to reduce, and by how much. It can also help address concerns about plastic particles being introduced by the filtration system itself. No filter eliminates every exposure. But because we use water every day, reverse osmosis can be a useful way to reduce the total burden from microplastics and persistent chemicals.
