Singer and songwriter Melanie Fiona is enjoying a slower pace of life in Paris, and the experience has her questioning why people in North America are constantly in a rush.

The Grammy-winning artist took to Threads to share how spending just a few days in the French capital has positively impacted her mental and emotional well-being.

“I’ve been in Paris for a few days now, and my nervous system is already more regulated. People here walk slowly. They take their time drinking coffee or eating with friends. Nothing is HIGH DEMAND. It’s so lovely.”

Fiona explained that the relaxed atmosphere made her recognize just how much stress has become normalized back home.

“It reminded me how disregulated we are in North AMERICA, and how we exist in a constant pressure cooker of stress. We expect everything fast and in a hurry and deem it disrespectful if it’s not.”

Her observations highlight the differences she has noticed between everyday life in Paris and the fast-paced culture often associated with North America.

From rushing through meals to expecting immediate service, Fiona’s reflections raise questions about whether convenience and productivity have come at the expense of personal peace.

Is North America’s fast-paced lifestyle putting unnecessary stress on us, or is Melanie Fiona simply experiencing the magic of being on vacation?

Cosplaying in my 20’s was fun, but I felt like I had a lot of figuring out to do (establishing myself in a career, understanding myself as a person, and what I look for in friends, etc). I just feel like in my 30’s, I am able to just enjoy the hobby more because my confidence in myself rose more, I gained more friends at cons, and my outside career was established more.

ALSO, it is New Comic Book Day! What are your pulls for the week???
