BROTHERHOOD GOES BEYOND THE SCORE.
Different schools. Different jerseys. Same crazy bunch of boys.
Last night, Cohen and Joey fought their hearts out in the Middle School Championship, only to lose in a heartbreaking penalty shootout. 💔
And then something happened that reminded us why we love this beautiful game.
Their Islanders FC U14 Betde teammates, who had competed for their own schools, came over to console them. No school rivalries. No teasing. No bragging rights. Just brothers showing up for brothers.
Because when the final whistle blows, the school jerseys may be different, but the bond they’ve built playing together doesn’t come off with the uniform.
THIS. RIGHT. HERE. 💚
This is what we hope these boys take away from football. Not just trophies, medals, or goals, but friendships that show up when the scoreboard isn’t in your favor.
And knowing these boys, I’m sure the heartfelt moment lasted all of five minutes before somebody said something stupid and they all started laughing again.
That’s brotherhood. One minute you’re wiping away tears, the next you’re telling your teammate to stop being dramatic.
To Cohen and Joey, keep your heads up. You may have lost the championship, but look at the brothers standing beside you. That’s a win no shootout can ever take away.
And to ALL our U14 Betde boys, this is why we play. This is why we coach. This is why we put up with your nonsense week after week.
Years from now, they may forget the final score. But they’ll remember who stood beside them when it hurt. 💚
Once an Islander, always an Islander.
