This one tree has more character than some entire landscapes.

I love the atmosphere of autumn, when the light gets softer, the colors more subtle and even a single tree on a rock becomes the main subject. Exactly the kind of scene I love photographing.

I’m 39, and there’s so much I wish I could tell my 30-year-old self. Some of it would’ve saved me time. Some of it I probably needed to learn the hard way.

1. The girl who felt “too much” for some rooms was exactly right for others. Find those rooms.
2. You don’t have to choose one identity. Being multiracial isn’t a contradiction you have to explain. It’s a whole inheritance.
3. Growing up around famous people taught you that access isn’t the same as belonging. Build the second one yourself.
4. The DJ booth taught you to read a room. You’ll use that skill for the rest of your life.
5. Late nights are fun, but sleep is still going to become your favorite luxury.
6. Your body isn’t a project. It’s the place you live.
7. Say no sooner. A polite “no” now saves you a resentful “yes” later.
8. Some friendships are meant for one season. Let them end with love, not guilt.
9. Starting a company will humble you, and that’s the point.
10. Nobody actually has it figured out. The confident people are just better at hiding the drafts.
