Short hop to the right spot!

⭐️ When you short hop down the line, you risk getting Erned! If you go middle, the ball has to stay low. Leave it up to their forehand and you’re in trouble!

⭐️ My favorite target is crosscourt, between their feet! You’re going over the lower part of the net and giving them fewer options to attack you.

⭐️ I love the crosscourt short hop, but don’t go too wide! The wider you go, the higher the net and the farther the ball has to travel. Keep that target simple!

Is this a little controversial? Idk but I feel like it’s so important for people to know what’s possible when we work with the brains mechanisms for profound change! We really do have highly effective ways to facilitate these neurobiological processes & talking about the same thing over and over again without substantial change isn’t the way! If you’re interested in learning more about the mechanisms of memory reconsolidation and how to apply them, I recommend these resources: * Tori Olds’s YouTube channel. She has a great series on memory reconsolidation and another on Coherence Therapy, which is the modality I use. * Unlocking the Emotional Brain by Bruce Ecker and colleagues. * The trainings and resources available on the Coherence Therapy website. * My online courses for therapists at KinaWolfensteinTraining.com. * My library of videos and educational resources at Patreon.com/ComplexTraumaRecovery. When I witness someone having a really big breakthrough in just a couple of sessions, I often find myself thinking: Do people know this is possible? Do people know that long-standing patterns that feel so sticky and unmovable can sometimes change profoundly when we access the emotional learnings underlying them and create the conditions for memory reconsolidation? There’s also an important nuance here: even with a highly skilled therapist, reaching that kind of transformation can take a long time. With complex trauma, there can be many interconnected emotional learnings and protective barriers that need attention along the way. I’ve had plenty of experiences where I haven’t been able to facilitate a transformational experience in just a few sessions, and I don’t want to imply that this happens every time. Rapid breakthroughs are possible, but they aren’t a promise or a standard against which to measure everyone’s healing.
