Bridal party florals will forever make me smile and give me butterflies at the same time! 💐💕 There’s something so special about knowing that something I created with my own two hands will be held, worn, and photographed during some of the most meaningful moments of someone’s life. The nerves come from wanting every little detail to be PERFECT, but the joy comes from knowing I get to be a small part of someone’s love story. 🥹✨

Looking for an English-speaking hairstylist in Taipei? After 2.5 years here, trying 4+ stylists and spending hundreds of dollars 😭, I finally found a blonde highlight specialist! @alchemic_coiffeur gave me the EXACT style I asked for 🙌🏻 PS: This isn’t sponsored. I’m just sharing my experience to hopefully help someone else looking for this service ❤️ Here’s what I learned from all my trial & error that I think is important to know if you’re coming to Taipei for balayage or blonde highlights. 1. The lightener matters. Some Asian-brand lighteners are formulated with coarser Asian hair textures in mind, so it’s worth asking what products your stylist uses, especially if your hair is already compromised from frequent bleaching. 2. Ask about toner vs. color. In my experience, some salons used demi-permanent color on my non-bleached hair to better match the tone of my highlights, rather than the toner-only approach I was used to. This always left my hair much darker than I wanted and took longer to fade back to the lighter look I was after. 3. Highlighting techniques can be very different. Even when I explained that I wanted a root touch-up, stylists would bleach & color my entire head instead of just my new growth. After 5 years of being blonde, I was used to my US stylist applying bleach only to my roots and avoiding previously lightened hair. The difference in technique contributed to A LOT of breakage for me, and I experienced this repeatedly until now. 4. Highlights can cost as much as in the US. I’ve seen quotes as high as NT$14,000 (about US$430), sometimes without a haircut. One thing you’ll save on is tipping, since it isn’t customary in Taiwan. I think if you have strong, healthy, thick hair and want gray blending or balayage, a local Taipei stylist may work great for you. But if you’re used to Western highlighting techniques and your hair is already compromised, do your research before booking because the wrong approach can cause serious breakage. Trust me, I learned that the hard way 😭 PS I can’t speak for every stylist. This is just my personal experience.❤️ (Reel inspired by @happy_baes ) #taipeibalayage
