MYTH-BUSTING TIME: "oil cleansing will break you out" π«π§΄
Okay I believed this one for YEARS, because why would I put MORE oil on my face?? But here's the real talk: oil dissolves oil. A good oil cleanser melts sunscreen, makeup, and the day's buildup right off β and for my fellow dry and sensitive girlies, it does it without stripping your face down to that tight, squeaky feeling π
Breakouts from oil cleansing usually mean one of two things: the formula had comedogenic ingredients that don't agree with YOU, or β the big one β it wasn't washed off properly. Oil cleanser needs a second cleanse (your gentle water-based cleanser) to finish the job. That's literally the whole point of double cleansing.
My rule: massage for 60 seconds on dry skin, add a little water to emulsify until it turns milky, then rinse and follow with your regular cleanser. My skin has been calmer AND clearer since I stopped being scared of oil π
(not medical advice β just what works for my skin π patch test first, my loves!)
Were you an oil-cleansing skeptic too, or have you always been team double cleanse? π
