Lewis Hamilton took full responsibility after a frustrating Singapore Grand Prix, apologising to Ferrari over team radio after a strategy decision cost him a potential podium finish.

Hamilton was running near the front and had a genuine chance of securing a top-three result. But when a Virtual Safety Car was deployed following Lance Stroll’s retirement, Ferrari called both Hamilton and Charles Leclerc into the pits.

Leclerc made the stop, while Hamilton missed the pit entry and stayed out on his old tyres. The decision proved costly as his pace faded dramatically in the closing stages.

Hamilton ended up finishing P6, while teammate Leclerc secured P2 behind race winner Max Verstappen. After the chequered flag, the seven-time world champion didn't blame his team — he owned the mistake.

Hamilton’s emotional team radio: “Sorry, boys. I let you down today with that strategy. My call, and I lost us valuable points. I’ll try and make up for it in the next one. Great job with the pit stop though."

It was a painful missed opportunity for Ferrari, who looked capable of putting both cars on the podium. But Hamilton's willingness to accept responsibility showed his determination to move forward and fight back at the next round in Austin.
