A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening reception of Deconstructing Disability: Perspectives + Identities!

Special thanks to all the students who participated in the programming: Heavenly, Jane, and Leo for speaking about their work; Michelé for her poetry performance; and Alex and Jewels for their dance performances.

Thanks to Jim for providing audio description, and Courtney and Melanie for ASL interpretation.

Thanks to @navilens for working with us to bring an innovative accessibility feature to the exhibition, @perkinslibraryofficial and Kim’s amazing team for producing the Braille translations, and @lesleydisabilityservices for supporting the exhibition’s accessibility features.

Thanks to @camillajerome for co-jurying the exhibition, Nancy Jo for all her work coordinating the performances, and Andrew for the tremendous amount of work he put into coordinating and curating the show.

And finally, thanks to @lesleyartdesign and @lesleyuniversity for supporting it all!

Image descriptions:
Carousel of photos from the exhibition’s opening reception. A photo show artists standing beside their work, with an ASL interpreter nearby and a large crowd gathered around them. Video of poetry performance. Two photos show the dance performances in the Lunder Arts Center lobby, with audience members seated and standing. Gallery shots and close-up photos show NaviLens codes, exhibition wall labels with Braille overlays, and an audio transcript.
