Here's how to use the frame (using my profile as an example):
🇩🇴 1. How you move: bachata foundation
improving my bachata movement is a daily grind, where I try to balance authentic Dominican roots with my own background in other styles.
my fusion: It’s a mix of street style (hip hop, house) and bachata.
the athletic side: Growing up with sport orienteering and athletics through my dad shaped my movement to be physical, sharp, and sporty.
even when my fusion pushes boundaries, I always remind myself that I'm a visitor in this culture, and it’s essential to pause, respect the heritage, and revisit the original foundations.
👟 2. Who you are: identity
my roots: I'm a small-town girl who naturally gravitated toward boy's clothing and street styles like hip hop and house which gives my movement a naturally more "masculine" feel.
discipline: my time serving in the military built a strong sense of inner resilience and structure.
unapologetic expression: letting go of what is considered "normal".
Why should the global bachata community be a slave to just one way of expressing bachata when you look at how people genuinely move in DR? It takes real self-awareness to stay true to your own origin and culture and that's what I believe in!
That's why I'm 'RABIOSA' 😈
🔥 3. Why you dance: purpose
the mission: making solo improvisation approachable for bachata dancers.
my background is in freestyle-based solo styles, and I want to bridge that gap.
creating space: I want to build an environment where dancers can be truly what and how they want to be and bringing their own unique stories and aspects to our scene.
