But underneath that can be a much deeper struggle: not truly believing we deserve a relationship where our needs are met, where we feel loved, secure, and at peace.

And when we don’t feel worthy of that kind of love, we can end up investing years of our lives in people who aren’t giving us what we need.

The good news is that we can learn to change this. We can build the confidence to stop measuring a relationship by how much we want someone and start paying attention to how they actually treat us, what they give, and whether they’re right for us.
