We can’t begin to explain the emotional rollercoaster we’ve been on for the past two weeks. We’ve always been in awe of the Bauers and the grace, strength and resolve they’ve shown over the past two years. But seeing them firsthand in the courtroom, fighting for Christa’s babies has opened up our eyes in a way words can’t adequately describe. Over the past two weeks we’ve seen the Bauers raked over the coals, again and again, simply for doing what’s in the best interest of Christa’s children. The fact that they have always put the kids interests first took a backseat for the other side. Because they didn’t like HOW the Bauers did it. But on October 30th, a jury of 12 incredible people unanimously decided what we all have known to be true for the past two years: that the children should remain in the Bauers’ care, surrounded by the love, stability, and community they have known since their whole world fell apart. 💜 We are so grateful to the jury, who saw through the darkness and chose the light. We are thankful for the lawyers who broke out into sobs along side us when the verdict was read, who worked so hard for these kids and this family, and who have put their own lives on hold to fight for what’s right. And we are so grateful for the community near and far who have showed up time and time again for this incredible family, who should never have been faced with this battle to begin with. On Friday night we turned a corner. We were reminded that among heartbreak, hope and goodness remains. Among darkness there can be light. And that truth and goodness always prevail. The fight for justice is far from over. But this is an enormous leap forward. #ForChrista #JusticeForChrista

It’s not over ‘til it’s over. @nycmarathon 🥈😤 Had to tell myself this more than times than usual yesterday. It wasn’t a day where I felt perfect, but it didn’t need to be. @mountainroche and I had a pre-race call before I left for NYC and his advice was “just be Jess.” I don’t think he knew that something so simple could give me so much confidence. There was no over-engineering or overanalyzing anything. I stacked a lot of imperfect, grindy bricks at altitude and in the AZ heat this summer. The workouts that I thought were pretty “meh” or a “check the box/get it done” type days ended up being the ones that David said made me better, not the workouts where most splits/reps/things went to plan. All that was left to do was get to NYC healthy, enjoy it all, take whatever the race had to throw at me, and “just be Jess” through all five boroughs. • • • I sent David a DM two years ago after the NYC Marathon after being a fan of him, Megan, and the pod for quite sometime. He was so gracious with his time and lent an ear when I needed it the most. I told him I wanted to get better, but keep it fun. I don’t think a lot of coaches would care about that second part as much as the first. But he did. It has been a very fun two years of working together and discovering my best self. I owe a lot of this to him. So @mountainroche… just keep being you, too! Thank you to the @nyrr team (Dorian, Sam, Christine, everyone!) for taking a chance on us and making NYC feel like home. The @brooksrunning fam helped us share our unique journeys to NYC. The love at Brooks runs so deep and I feel so lucky. Thanks to Connor, my Dad, and my besties for making me feel like I can full send it and they would still love me even if it all went sideways. & thanks to @set4go_llc for getting me to every start line healthy the last 4 years. Congrats to @sheilachepkiruiken & @hellenobiri… thank you for getting the best out of us all yesterday. Can’t say thank you enough for all the sweet messages I have received. So saddened by the loss of Matt Wright, one of our former producers who helped launch @jenniferhudsonshow. He was just back to visit on Thursday for our Halloween show! He made such a huge impact on so many people in this industry and beyond! My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, Matt! 💜
