I am always a sucker for a good magical school setting and Arcana Academy by Elise Kova really hit the spot. The dark school vibe pulls you in right away, and finding out all the dark secrets hidden inside the Academy was so much fun. Slowly it uncovered what was actually going on under the surface and it gave me such a rush, and every single twist felt super exciting to read.

A big reason I loved this book so much is Clara. She is such a great main character. She is super fierce, strong, and a complete no bullshit kind of girl. She doesn't take any nonsense from anyone and just deals with things directly. On top of having an amazing main character, my most favorite part of the whole book was the concept of card inking. It's such a cool and unique magic system, and it made the whole world feel so interesting.

Now let's talk about the romance part. I loved Clara and Prince Kaelis so much, and their fake relationship was everything. The tension and banter were incredible to read. Their dynamic is so good.

Overall, I think Arcana Academy is such a solid dark fantasy and romantasy book. Most of the time, this book didn't even come close to making me feel like it was predictable, which kept me hooked all the way through. If you like fierce girls, cool magic systems, dark school secrets, and great fake dating romance, you definitely need to read this one.

Can't wait to read Prince of Swords. because this book ends on a massive cliffhanger!

4/5 🌟
