You definitely know autumn has arrived when you can’t see much through the bedroom window on a morning ….

A bit of autumn condensation to clear first!

But look at that morning view when the window finally opened. The garden in the sunshine, the cows already tucking into their breakfast, and Murphy 🐶 just setting off across the fields for his morning walk.

Just another morning at our little cottage in Yorkshire, and one of the things I love most about living here. ❤️

What a grand view Jane ✅ Just for a change we were awake before 🦮 Annie. Could be because she had a late night out! Just not keen on early & late dark dog walks. Equilux. Not looking forward to putting clocks back! Do like warming comfort food days though. ✨😘

Excuse me, September… I think you’ve got the month wrong! 🌹🍂 Because this beautiful Lady of the Lake rose is looking as though we’re right in the middle of June. Absolutely covered in flowers, and putting on a show just when I thought the garden would be starting to slow down for autumn. And then there’s Murphy, who clearly has no time to stop and admire the roses… 🐾😂 Straight past me and up the garden path, after our walk, as if he had far more important things to do. Well he had actually, he was obviously more than ready for his breakfast. So much so, did you notice him trip up the garden path?! 🫣 Are your roses still flowering like this, or has autumn well and truly arrived in your garden? 💚💛🩵💛💚 The first day of October was spent in the garden, with a very unhelpful assistant. 🐶😂 It was one of those absolutely glorious October days when you remember exactly why you love gardening. Blue skies, sunshine and a whole day with nowhere else I needed to be. So I got stuck in. Lots of perennials cut back, spent annuals removed, pots emptied and lots of buckets filled. Some heading for the compost heap, others for the tip. And one blister later, I decided that perhaps I’d done quite enough of cutting back for one day! The garden is still surprisingly colourful, though. Cosmos, valerian, roses, Erigeron and hydrangeas are all putting on a lovely show, as if they haven’t quite grasped that it’s October. I’ve also emptied the pots ready for the spring bulbs. Which would be wonderfully organised of me, if I’d actually ORDERED the bulbs. Don’t ask me why I haven’t, I think it’s the weather, it just seems far too early to be thinking about planting any at the moment, but I suppose I’d better start thinking about it! And then there’s Murphy. He sat in his sun chair, or the garden path, for pretty much the entire day, keeping a very close eye on proceedings. Not a bucket lifted. Not a single perennial cut back. Not even a token offer to help. Honestly, the work ethic in this household is appalling. 😂🐾 But what a lovely day. My first proper full day in the garden for ages, and I enjoyed every single minute of it. Well… apart from the blister of course! Have you ordered your spring bulbs yet? Am I the only person who hasn’t? 💚🩵💚🩵💚 And just like that… they’re growing up and walking their own path. A very early Sunday morning after a sleepover at Granny’s and these two were off to rugby training. 🏉💙 It feels like only yesterday they were tiny enough to carry, and now they’re disappearing down the garden path in front of me, heading off on their next adventure. How did they grow up so quickly? I know this path will see them walking, running and racing down it for many years to come… but I’m going to treasure these special moments. 🌷🩷🌷🩷🌷 A few days ago I told you about the year tulip fire broke my heart… today, I’m sharing the tulips which made me so happy to have them back in our garden again! Following the post about the tulip fire disease, I’ve had so many lovely messages from people. ☺️ And so many of you asked about the beautiful, healthy tulips in the photos … “What are they called?” So I thought I’d share them properly. 🌷 The collection included: 🌷 Tulip Aveyron 🌷 Tulip Black Parrot 🌷 Tulip Holland Chic 🌷 Tulip Merlot 🌷 Tulip Queen of Night These are just some of the tulips I’ve grown since then, and they’re a little reminder that a gardening disaster doesn’t have to be the end of the story. Happy 14th Birthday to our first baby, Miss Moxie Cleopatra! We had some rough scares last year and this year, but, out of no where, this girl has turned back into her young, vocal, sassy self, full of energy! Dustin actually rescued Moxie from the animal shelter in 2012 and gave her to me as a Christmas present. She’s been by our sides ever since and through so many stages of our lives!  She was my first workout partner on the YouTube channel back when we started the channel in 2018 because she practically lived with us at the studio and today she made another appearance on the channel by napping through our entire leg workout while I was fighting for my life! She’s been with me in college, through the move to Charlotte, all of our Charlotte homes, she welcomed Ari, welcomed Gian, and now I think she avoids all of us at all cost 😂 As long as she has some sun, food, her bed, and can avoid Gian’s aggressive love language, she’s the happiest girl in the world! HBD MOX!
