Golf got lost in the technology somewhere.
The sound. The feel. The challenge.
Lately I’ve been playing persimmon. Not every round. Just sometimes.
And it’s changed how I experience the game.
The course plays differently. The sweet spot is smaller. You stop chasing distance and start chasing the center of the face.
And when you catch one?
Nothing feels like it. Nothing sounds like it.
Solid contact. Rhythm. That’s what this game is about.
Sometimes going backward reminds you what makes golf so good.

Funny I also hit mostly persimmons at the range. I wish I could tell you about the best of persimmon in pre1960 Macgregors but you are lefty. Damn!
