22 years ago today, @davidortiz kicked off one of the greatest comebacks in sports history with his walk-off home run for the @redsox in Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS.

This was the beginning of what I felt was the first REAL step toward victory. They wanted it, they needed it, they earned it. But, It was not without fear, or doubt, or the energy and weight of decades of players and Red Sox teams not being able to “just GET IT DONE.” It was epic and (hate this term) STORYBOOK PERFECT. And tbh, as a decades long fan…unexpected. We all cheered for years, saw multiple opportunities where “would have could have should have.” BUT. They did it!! In the most unexpected, unconventional, way. They did it the way that felt right to THEM. And every damn day this will bring me joy. I did cartwheels for my 90 year old neighbor Dori who was a lifelong fan .from my doorstep to the street. The joy was not something I could explain. I’ll always love this team. Through every stage, management team, trade deadline and all the wanking. They’re mine/ours. And the love is real. ❤️
