Neighbors, if you or someone you know takes naps throughout the day, a new study suggests those daytime snoozes could be an early warning sign of dementia. Researchers at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health found that older adults who nap most days or every day face a 48% higher risk of developing dementia compared to those who rarely or never nap.
_________
The study followed 995 Americans ages 65 and older for up to 10 years. Researchers discovered that people who unintentionally dozed off had a 39% higher dementia risk, while those who took naps lasting 30 minutes or less had a 40% higher risk. These associations remained even after researchers accounted for several health conditions and nighttime sleeping habits.
_________
However, researchers emphasize that napping does not necessarily cause dementia. Instead, frequent daytime sleeping could signal early changes in the brain, particularly in areas responsible for keeping people awake. “More frequent napping could be a marker of changes in the brain, rather than a cause of brain changes that lead to dementia,” explained Dr. Adam Spira, a senior author of the study. Researchers believe monitoring changes in sleeping habits could eventually help identify people at risk years before a dementia diagnosis.

Update on my Jubilee cosplay! I wanted to tackle making the wig first - I got a cheap wig off Amazon which was a decent starting starting point for what I needed but still had a long way to go. I tried my first ever glued hairline which was really scary esp because at this point I already spent hours on the wig and didn't wanna fk it up, but I'm really glad I tried it cuz although it didn't come out perfectly I think it looks much better and to me that's a win! The wig I bought was supposed to be black but it actually came in this weird grayish black color, but I ended up loving it bc I could airbrush black shadows and have more dimension that way! I'm still working on her outfit so stay tuned for the full cosplay reveal ☺️
